Mona Avatar

After a long intermission, finally I restart my English journal today. In the past two months or so. I immersed myself in (or I should say- strive) my art subjects. The biggest one is Renaissance study, and the most interesting assignment is Mona painting. Based on the composition of Mona Lisa, Leonardo da Vinci's masterpiece, we were required to pick up a character from cartoon, movie, or a celebrity. Somehow, "Avatar" just popped into my head. my reason is not because of its popularity, is because the significance for the modern applied arts. Mona Lisa was first introduced the sfumato and chiaroscuro of painting technique and perspective composition into the three dimensional world. Similar to Mona, Avatar applies the improved new computerized 3-D technique to the film and makes the creatures almost real.
I elaborately compose the image with the planetary scene- the earth and floating stone at twilight, the nature- far mountains and near plants, and the main character. All the objects, their sizes are as well almost the same as Mona. I try to describe each part detailedly, especially the main character. I enjoy doing this piece very much.
